POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Animator completes assigned shots in accordance with the Director’s overall vision. This role checks in regularly with supervising animators regarding individual progress and with the animation producer regarding tasks and available work. This role must anticipate, communicate and troubleshoot any technical issues with assistance from key stakeholders, provide support to more junior team members, maintain awareness of the broader show needs as they relate to the animation department, and perform additional duties as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete assigned shots in accordance with Director’s overall vision
Gather suitable reference material from various sources
Animate characters and props using Maya
Attend all sequence Launches and Dailies to understand the Director and Animation Director’s needs, and note required revisions
Revise shots as directed
Ensure that all assigned shots are completed within required timelines
Check in with supervising animators regarding progress, and check in with animation producer regarding tasks and available work
Maintain a convention of file naming structures for all shots that is compatible within the Starz Animation pipeline
Anticipate, communicate and troubleshoot any technical issues with assistance of key stakeholders
Provide support to more junior team members by providing artistic direction and assisting with technical difficulties
Collaborate with other departments as necessary to ensure proper completion of assets and to ensure a smooth production
Maintain awareness of the broader show needs as they relate to the Animation Department (schedule, complexity of shots, etc…)
Keep Animation Lead aware of any production problems
Keep up to speed with current industry trends
Perform additional duties as required

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
5+ years experience of CG character animation experience, with proven animation skills
Feature film experience required
Completed post-secondary education in 3D animation or other relevant area of study
General understanding of animation styles and techniques as well as an excellent comprehension of animation production for film and/or television
Solid understanding of the animation production pipeline as a whole with an understanding of adjacent department workflows as well as how the Animation Department interacts with the overall production process
Strong working knowledge of CG Animation Software (experience with Maya a tremendous asset)
Previous study of anatomy, perspective and composition, with strong drawing skills an asset
Demonstrated knowledge of animation timing, posing, acting and storytelling techniques
High level of creativity, with the ability to perform to standard under tight deadlines
Ability to adapt working style to budget and schedule parameters
Ability to handle feedback and constructive criticism well
Openness to existing workflows with the ability to learn quickly and comprehend custom in-house production tools
Ability to solve problems independently and check own work
Strong sense of initiative with the capacity to work well in a team setting
Availability to work overtime during production crunch periods
