JOB TITLE:  3D Stereoscopic CG Supervisor

START DATE:  Late July 2010

SUMMARY

IMAX is looking for a Stereoscopic CG Supervisor to work on an exciting full 2D to 3D conversion of a live-action Hollywood feature! This is a two to three month contract position located in trendy downtown Toronto. We offer a challenging, fast-paced creative work environment that allows artists to be a part of exciting feature film projects with the potential for future opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A Stereoscopic CG Supervisor manages the technical production and production support teams from a technical point of view.  Those teams consist of technical directors, segmentation artists, contouring artists and occlusion artists.  This role requires excellent management skills as well as superior technical and troubleshooting skills and an intimate knowledge of both practical and theoretical stereoscopy.

The Stereoscopic CG Supervisor works closely with the project producer and reports directly to the COO/CTO. Along with managing the technical support and production teams, the Stereoscopic CG Supervisor will provide technical and creative support to digital artists and will trouble shoot technical production problems, and will participate in the setting production standards and best practices.

REQUIREMENTS

— At least 10 years industry experience as a TD/CG Supervisor

— In depth knowledge of stereoscopy

— Must have experience working on 3D stereoscopic productions

— Expert knowledge of Maya, the Maya renderer, Mental Ray, and Renderman compliant renderers

— Good technical grasp of rendering theory, image processing theory and color management

— Expert knowledge of node-based compositing, especially Shake and Nuke

— Proficiency with Mel and Python

— Experience delivering complex productions on schedule.

— Strong leadership and management skills

— Critical eye for detail

Desired, but not required:

— Experience with 3D tracking systems like Boujou and PFtrack

— Familiarity with image based rendering

— A good understanding of shading, including sl.

— Canadian citizenship or a Canadian work permit.

• Must be available to work between August and October

• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines

• Willing to work evenings and weekends

• Ability to work shifts if required

• Ability to take direction and work independently while being an effective team player

• Highly detail-oriented
