Position: Senior Systems Administrator
Status: Fulltime
Reports to: Head of Production Technology
Salary: Annual gross salary of CDN $XXX paid in biweekly installments
Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation/year

ToonBox Entertainment is growing!
ToonBox, a 3D animation studio located in downtown Toronto, is looking for talented IT professionals to join our full time 3D feature team in 2011.
ToonBox Entertainment is ramping up for a CG animated feature film project and is looking for a sharp, talented senior systems administrator to join the core studio team.

Responsibilities
o Recommendation, design, implementation and maintenance of key IT work-flows and processes
o Setup and administration of studio network infrastructure, renderfarm, essential studio & production servers, and user workstations, including policy documentation (such as those related to security measures) and release to studio employees
o Management of user accounts and establishing & maintaining user intake processes
o Managing the deployment of OS, driver and software updates to Renderfarm nodes as well as Artist workstations
o Troubleshooting issues with network and hardware issues in the renderfarm and on workstations on the production floor
o Monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting high performance production file servers
o Managing and executing full and incremental backups of production data and essential studio data, as well as revising and adapting the backup strategy as the needs of the studio evolve
o Writing and maintaining documentation for IT infrastructure and processes
o Evaluation and recommendation of hardware and software system components for the growth and improvement of studio IT infrastructure and systems
o Working together with Production Technology and Production Management to provide solutions involving IT resources
o Working with, and managing relationships with, vendors and external consultants
o Training and supervision of IT department staff, including the organization, prioritizing, and scheduling of work assignments
Qualifications
o Minimum bachelor’s degree in associated discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.) or diploma from a successful, accredited IT program
o 5+ years of IT systems/network/infrastructure, with minimum 2 years systems administrator experience within visual effects or feature animation studio environments
o Hands on experience with and understanding of Windows Desktop (Windows 7) systems, Active Directory and Exchange
o Experience with open source and enterprise level mail and calendaring systems
o Hands on experience setting up and maintaining Linux based servers, and ideally with Renderfarm servers, including experience with Linux shell scripting (bash, csh, etc)
o Ability to communicate effectively with all of levels of technology users
o Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to manage and supervise others
o Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to operate well in an environment of changing and evolving needs
o Experience writing scripts in Python and experience with software development tools, like SVN and Trac, not a necessity but would be preferred
o Experience setting up Data Center server rooms would be ideal
