BRON Studios (Burnaby, B.C.) is looking for a PIPELINE TD for a team focused on creating an Animated CG show.  The ideal candidate has experience developing 3D animation production pipelines, and consulting with department supervisors to develop solutions to technical challenges on 3D animated productions.  It is essential to have a solid grasp of asset management and the technical requirements of 3D Animation pipelines.  The candidate must have exceptional skills in Maya and be well versed in Python and MEL programming.

The ideal candidate must be an organized team player that is capable of keeping track of all tasks, proactive in approach and has a good sense of humour.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

Overseeing the configuration of the production pipeline and surrounding processes for a new 3D animation Studio.

Mentor department supervisors and CG artists on the most efficient ways to work.

Develop tools to facilitate enhancing facility wide performance for the Production.

Anticipate pipeline development challenges and troubleshoot solutions with Department supervisors and the CTO.

Prioritize short term show requirements alongside your long-term development goals.

Assist the CTO with rolling out of the pipeline as it evolves.

Provide workflow documentation, train CG artists as required.

Provide a weekly update on Pipeline development status, outlining any upcoming roll outs or production risks.

Define directory structure, naming conventions and versioning for all Departments.

Take ownership of ensuring test shots and any challenging shots move smoothly through the pipeline.

Establish libraries for the show (EG: assets, scripts, textures, shaders, mocap clips).


3-5 years’ experience managing pipeline processes and tool development.

Strong working knowledge of multiple 2D and 3D software packages and pipelines.

Full knowledge of Maya and Experience working with Motion Builder.

Knowledge of Layout, Modeling, Texturing, Shading, Lighting and FX.

Experience using Mental Ray rendering pipelines is preferred.

Must be experienced programming and developing tool in Python, MEL and C++.

Knowledge of motion capture or performance capture pipelines is preferred.

Knowledge of character and facial rigging techniques is preferred.

Experience with 2d animation & 2d face-shapes desirable.

Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).

A creative problem-solver who is organized and critical of his or her own work.

Ability to cope with the pressure of our busy, deadline driven industry.
