Guru Studio’s dedicated team is passionate about bringing inspired character driven stories to screens around the world.
Our award winning and internationally renowned Toronto animated entertainment company is looking for CHARACTER DESIGNERS, who are responsible for character design production for FLASH/TOONBOOM series work. This role reports directly to the Sr. Designer and Production Designer.
Responsibilities:
Work with Senior Designer and Production Designer to illustrate characters in the style of the show
Produce character designs in various forms from rough concept to detailed turnarounds.
Produce character art including emotions and simple animations using Photoshop and Illustrator
Take on various concept art tasks other than character design (character concept art, cover art, mock-ups etc.)
Qualifications:
Excellent drawing and design skills (strong knowledge of anatomy and posing and fashion an asset)
Have an intuitive sense of what makes a character appealing and appropriate for the needs of the design.
Experience building characters and posing in Flash is an asset
Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator – knowledge of other art/graphics software an asset
Able to design within certain specifications (maintaining pre-determined proportions and keeping within an overall look)
Previous experience an asset
Works well under pressure in a studio environment.
