Job Description:

Sheridan is looking for an outstanding individual to join our faculty team starting in August 2022. The successful candidate will teach students in our Honours Bachelor of Animation program.  The candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach a range of skills and subjects that are required in animation education. These include: story (theory and practice), storyboarding, and animation (stop motion, 2D and/or 3D). The candidate should bring to the position experience working in industry and experience in teaching at the post-secondary level. The position requires collaborative, team-based skills as well as strong leadership skills.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
  • Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs
  • Creating an effective environment for applied learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and learning styles
  • Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning
  • Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning outcomes of the course and address multiple learning styles Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field required
  • A minimum of five years relevant practical and professional experience
  • Proficiency in storyboard and animation software (ToonBoom, Maya, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Strong understanding of theories of storytelling and story arcs
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience teaching adult learners
