Quebec City, November 1, 2013 – The 4th edition of Cartoon Connection Canada closed yesterday at the Loews Hotel Le Concorde. Close to 400 participants attended Cartoon Connection and the Mini Pixel.

Top producers and broadcasters from 18 countries were present. With more than 1,000 meetings on the agenda, a large number of coproduction agreements were signed at the event’s speed meetings.

“This year, there was a real buzz for Cartoon Connection. It goes without saying that we’ll be back next year. We’re really excited about organizing this kind of event for animation professionals,” said Cartoon general director, Marc Vandeweyer.

An inspiring highlight of the event came when keynote speaker Scott Dyer, executive vice president of Corus Entertainment, shared his vision of the animation industry with participants. “Consumers will lead the change and the power of partnership will become more and more important. In a new digital world, we compete globally. Don’t go in alone in a new production! Cooperation meetings such as Cartoon Connection are essential for the success of your new properties.”

Mini Pixel

The Mini Pixel held on Tuesday, October 29, was also a huge hit. Several studios, including Frima, Ubisoft and Beenox took part in the three master classes, as did the Collège Bart school of animation, the Laval University BA program in animation arts and science, Cégep de Limoilou, Dawson College and Collège O’Sullivan.

“This strong industry and academic participation in our master classes encourages us to put on other development events for animation and video game professionals. We’re already working on a major event for next spring,” said Louis Leclerc, general manager of Pixel Québec and co-organizer of Cartoon Connection Canada.
