We got word less than an hour ago that Blue Sky Studios employees were gathered in a meeting and getting the bad news, and now Deadline has confirmed it, the studio behind the Ice Age movies is closing today.
It’s been seen as an inevitability since they became absorbed into the Disney organization, but the news still comes as a huge blow.
Deadline reports that the film library will remain with Disney, and that the current production, Nimona, with 10 months left on the schedule, will be scrapped. That sucks.
That’s a lot of artists and support staff out of work. Thankfully, there’s a lot out there right now. So if you’re looking to hire, get on it! Our friends need work.
